Update: Unity of New Hope, October 16th

NOTE FROM ELLEN

Photo of Jean Frank

This coming Sunday, October 19th, our church will have a church dedication service at the 11:00 AM service to dedicate the Jean Frank Education Center which is the new building addition to our church.  Jean Frank died in 2006 and left the church a legacy which enabled us to build this new addition.

Yesterday I went through all of the church photos trying to find a photo of Jean Frank.  Even though she came to Unity Church of New Hope when it first began in Denton in 1986, it was difficult to find a photo because she kept a very low profile.  Many people have trouble bringing her to mind because she would arrive on time for church and leave just before the Peace Song.  She often sat with Mary Sullivan.

Jean kept a low profile but she supported the church financially throughout the years.  When she developed pancreatic cancer, I would often visit her and I began to know more about her personal life.  She was always interested in what was happening in the church and she was also interested in what was happening in my personal life.

She took very good care of herself right to the end.  She walked up and down the halls for exercise.  She also attended  parties at the nursing home, etc. and booked hair appointments.  She was very petite and liked pretty clothing.  The church chaplains would visit and bring her walking pants and shoes, etc.  I remember being shocked to find she was in her 80's when she passed away as she looked much younger.

Her close friend and neighbor, Judy Garber, would come up often to see her and do many things for her.  Judy will be in attendance on Sunday morning as we dedicate the building and she is thrilled about the new addition in Jean's name.

When the church moved to our present location, Jean dedicated a pew in our church to an Aunt that I understood was an Aunt by marriage.  This Aunt introduced her to Unity for which she was grateful

Jean had no surviving relatives.  She shared with me that one day she gathered all of her photos in her garage and burned them as she had no one to pass them to.  She shredded personal papers and prepared in every way for her transition.

I did not know until the church received the money from the investment company that our church would receive a legacy from her estate.  What a blessing that money has been!  I know she would be happy to see the new building but would avoid the limelight of being the benefactor.   She was a beautiful, loving and generous spirit.

Join us this Sunday as Rev. Kurt Condra who is the Associate Minister of the Unity Church of Dallas will be out guest speaker for the dedication.  There will be a reception afterwards.

 See you soon!!!!

VISIONING CLASS
(each Wednesday 7:30 PM)
Ellen Davis and Lane Pierce Facilitators

The class is currently working on putting their goals in writing to correlate with the images in their books.
Visioning is all about dreaming, fantasizing, clarifying and energizing your life.  You decide what it is you want in your life and then begin to envision those things. By collecting and organizing images of items or important words you can surround yourself with images of who you want to become, what you want to have, where you want to live, or where you want to vacation, your life changes to match those images and those desires.  Between Ellen's commitment to the system of Visioning and Lane's commitment to goal setting there are many lessons to be learned in any one night of Visioning class.
This class is supported by love offerings.
A Vision Book is really an inventory of your desires - come stock your shelves.
